Canfaito: a field of beech trees in the heart of Italy.

Today I take you to a beech tree forest, a fairytale place in the Marche Region.

Canfaito comes from Latin and means "field of beech trees", words that alone could not describe the beauty of this fairytale place. This beechwood of big and secular trees has transported us in an enchanting natural scenery and made us understand the majesty of autumn in the Marche region. Here you will find the largest beech tree in the region, one of the 300 monumental trees in Italy.
I have to admit that I have never been a great fan of autumn, which for me has always represented the end of summer and the arrival of the cold (try to understand me, I was used to 40 degrees for almost the whole year!). However, I can tell you that this place has definitely changed my mind.
Colours never seen, scents never smelled. Here I saw fascinating colors evoking the autumn, as in a perfect painting. Surely the Canfaito beechwood will be beautiful in all seasons... but if you are looking for a special place to contemplate the arrival of autumn in these parts, I highly recommend it.
Canfaito can be reached from San Severino Marche, in the province of Macerata, passing through the road that leads to the castle of Elcito, a charming and small village with only 7 inhabitants, another wonder of this area. Continue for three kilometers on a winding road until you arrive at a beech wood. When you exit the forest, the road becomes smoother and a little further on you will find two cafes, almost always open. You will see the only construction of the place that marks the beginning of the series of extraordinary beeches.
